It is the applicant's responsibility to fully understand the program provisions and requirements before applying. The Assessor may provide documents and reference material but is NOT able to instruct you in the application process.
Applicants must file with the Assessor and include a map of the property indicating the classification(s) they are seeking on their land.
Revised applications are required when there is a transfer of ownership, a change in acreage, and a change in use or 490 classification.
Applications for this program are due October 31st, however FOREST CERTIFICATION REPORTS ARE DUE OCTOBER 1st for any year in which they are required.
PLEASE NOTE: This program offers a reduction in the assessment on land approved for the program and therefore comes with provisions on how the land may be used. It imposes a penalty for changes to the ownership and/or use for a period of 10 years. Please review the documentation on the program COMPLETELY before applying to ensure that you and your heirs understand the requirements and commitments of the program and the possible penalties imposed.
